The quality of the materials seems really good. All the parts were in the box. The paint isn't chipping like some people said was happening to them. The screws definitely wouldn't suffice, so I bought some 2 1/2 in (#8) screws to replace them. Someone mentioned using #10 screws, but they didn't fit through the holes on the mounting pieces. I'm totally un-handy, and really had no major issues hanging them. The hardest thing was finding the studs through paneling. But they're up, they're very solid, and they seem to have no issues with my two 10ft, 39 lb kayaks. Really love that they swing sideways to lie flush to the wall when not holding a kayak. That also helps when hanging the bottom kayak first, keeping the upper hangers out of the way. They keep the kayaks nice and flush against the wall. Well worth the money!
