Product Description Turn over the cards and try to be the first to fill your trolley with all sorts of bright and colourful clothes. The game can be played on its own, or it can be played with the Fruit and Veg Booster Pack, or with the basic Shopping List game, which can be played by up to 6 players. Either way, the object of the game is to fill your trolley with as many items as you can from your shopping list. To play, each player chooses a trolley and a shopping list. All 16 item cards are placed on the table, face down. Each player takes it in turn to pick up a card. If the card matches one of the items in the player's shopping list, they keep the card and place it in their trolley. If the item on the card does not appear on their list, it is placed face down back in the same place on the table. Play continues until one player fills their trolley with all the items on their list. The game can be played with just 2 players, but this can be increased to 4 players if used in conjunction with the Fruit and Veg Booster Pack, or with 6 players if used with the original Shopping List game. The game is made with strong, recycled board and is suitable for children aged 3 to 7. It will also help expand children's vocabulary, as there is plenty of opportunity to talk about the items on the cards; what colours things are, what they are made of, what sort of weather would you wear them in. 'Shopping List' is our best-selling game, and the Booster Pack allows you fill your trolley with many more items. From the Manufacturer Orchard Toys products are made in Britain from durable, recycled board and have a wipe-clean finish, meaning they will stand the test of time against constant playing, wear and tear and messy hands! Our range is developed, designed and illustrated by our talented in-house team with education in mind. Comes with 2 shopping cart cards
2 shopping lists
16 item cards with shoes, sneakers, gloves and more.
Contains two shopping carts, two shopping lists, and 16 clothing cards. The clothing cards depict: sunglasses, shorts, belt, vest top (tank top), boots (rain boots), watch, shirt, scarf, jacket, flip flops, gloves, T-shirt, bag (backpack), trainers (tennis shoes), jumper (sweater), and cap (baseball cap).Pros: Contains additional clothing items. Shopping carts are additional colors from original game so you don't get duplicates. I can use the tiles for a lot of educational purposes that have nothing to do with the game.Cons: The shopping lists only have clothing so it makes them feel a tad odd if include in the original game. Need more than 2 shopping lists for it to function as a game on its own. There was a lot of other clothing or back to school items like pencils or dresses that could have been included to make it a 4 shopping list game. The names of some items are not the same in the USA as in the UK. I listed these difference in parentheses above.Overall, its a bit expensive given the feel of being half a game. But, I really wanted all those wonderful clothing tiles to use for lots of other purposes including classifying, feeding the monster dexterity game (kid avoids and does not feed to monster because not food), clothing shopping planning, learning words for common objects, clothes to wear for each season, etc. Just so much you can teach with these tiles.NOTE: A new updated version was released. My review pertains the version before 2015.Quality: game pieces are sturdy and great quality. I like how they are thick and easy to pick up without being too chunky.Game Play: got this for my 3 year old niece and she loves it. The game is a perfect duration for her attention span. I did tweak the rules slightly when less than 4 people are playing - we still put all the tokens in the middle but if you draw a piece that is not on anyone's board we put it to the side rather then putting it back in the pile as the instructions say to do. Helps to keep the game from taking forever since the pile of tokens gets smaller each turn doing this. The game is clearly British based upon some of the items/tokens - i.e. one of the items is a jar of curry. We just say it is peanut butter :)Highly recommend this game.Contains two shopping carts, two shopping lists, and 16 produce cards. The produce cards depict: pears, potatoes, raspberries, leek, blueberries, onions, mellow, broccoli, peas, cherries, baby sweetcorn, kiwi fruit, grapes, pineapple, asparagus, and cauliflower.Pros: Contains additional fruits and veggies. Shopping carts are additional colors from original game so you don't get duplicates. The names of the foods are the same in the USA as in the UK. I can use the tiles for a lot of educational purposes that have nothing to do with the game.Cons: The shopping lists only have fruit and veggies so it makes them feel a tad odd if include in the original game. Need more than 2 shopping lists for it to function as a game on its own. There was a lot of other healthy grocery items like yogurt that could have been included to make it a 4 shopping list game.Overall, its a bit expensive given the feel of being half a game. But, I really wanted all those wonderful food tiles to use for lots of other purposes including separating by food group, feeding the monster dexterity game, meal planning, learning words for common objects, etc. Just so much you can teach with these tiles.NOTE: A new updated version was released. My review pertains the version before 2015.My 4yr old finds memory games a bit difficult to concentrate on and usually gets bored halfway through. With this game it is not just a case of remembering where pairs are. She has a visual goal as well rather than counting up at the end, because she knows she needs to fill her trolley. Also like how the lists and baskets are different such as one shopping list is on a phone. It encourages her to make choices about what kinds of things she wants to buy. She also found it quite funny that one of the shopping items is the shopping list game itself. The actual game looks like it will last a long time as although it is made of cardboard, it is very thick and would be hard to damage through playing. I always buy this game for birthday presents when I don't know what the child likes and it always goes down well.As with all Orchard Toys games I found this to be excellent quality and engaging. My kids love it and find the game great fun.The pieces are well made from thick cardboard so should stand the test of time. The pictures are bright and engaging. The game is a good for improving their memory skills and visual recognition skills. There is so much more that kids can do with this game rather than just play a matching game. My kids like to play their own little games with the pieces, pretending that they are going shopping in a supermarket and lining the items up on shelves.I think the pieces in the game could be used for language development with younger kids, or helping to practice reading words for kids that have started school. I stuck some little price tags on the pieces with blu-tac for my older daughter so that she could practice adding items together when playing shop.My 2 1/2 year old grandson loves this game. He’s still getting used to how to play it but the colours are so lovely and bright he enjoys putting the different items into his trolley. As he gets older it will be an enjoyable game that he can play with the rest of the family but for now he’s quite happy with just the 2 of us naming the items and talking about them. The cardboard is really sturdy so he can’t bend the pieces and the play pieces are a lovely size for little hands. He plays with this for longer than the Noah’s ark game (also by orchard) although 10 minutes is about as long as his interest lasts. This game is fantastic for children, getting them away from screens for family fun and learning. The tiles are robust and clear, we have played many time and each one is still disguised when upside down (no tell tell scuffs). I love how the children can pick a shopping trolley or basket, and which list they would like.Have played with my 2 year old, who picked up the concept quite quickly. Have also played with older children who love it also.So much fun!The game contains two shopping trollies, two baskets, 4 lists and variety of products all on strong cardboard with clear bright colours. My son is three and not great at taking turns or following rules so we mix it up a bit in doing the shopping in different way. There is a lot a preschooler or KS1 child can get from the game in sorting, colours, imagination, role play, game playing etc.My son loves to play it and we even took it to his great grandparents to play last week and they seemed to enjoy it too.
