Illustrations are beautiful & patterns are scaled for 4 sizes. The author explains how to adjust a pattern to fit by measuring your doll but the measurements for the dolls the patterns are displayed on are not given. Definitely not a quick process nor do the styles seem readily adaptable for contemporary clothing. I'm going to keep the book as reference material but definitely feel it wasn't worth buying."Two Hour Dolls' Clothes" is a colorful and unconventional look at sewing for dolls. In this book, there is more emphasis on creative fabric choices then highly skilled or detailed sewing. As an "advanced beginner" seamstress, I found this book to be very liberating. The photographs and watercolors are delicious to look at, and this has changed my view of sewing into one that includes enjoyment with fabrics and style instead of frustration for a lack of perfection in my sewing skills. However, from a practical level, the patterns are unclear. Patterns for different sized dolls are set inside of the larger patterns for the same piece, and they are colored in with watercolor designs, suggesting fabric. I would recommend "Two Hour Dolls' Clothes" for those who enjoy photos and watercolors of dolls and their clothes as well as the creative use of color and fabric. It may open your mind to new visions of what doll clothes can be.For those who would like a more straightforward book with clear patterns of basic pieces in a variety of sizes, I would recommend "The Dolls' Dressmaker" by Venus Dodge in addition to "Two Hour Dolls' Clothes". "The Dolls' Dressmaker" takes a more traditional instructional approach to doll clothes construction. With both books, one is sure to create skilled and creative clothing for dolls.I bought this book two years ago and I have made 12 or 15 different outfits. Some I have modified because I did not like the length of the pattern. There were a few patterns that did not seem to fit our 18 inch dolls very well, but that might have been user error. I have bought patterns at stores, but they had so many more steps than these patterns do. The hardest part for me is the adding of velcro. Once I completed about 6 outfits I felt I had the skills to be able to mix and match. It is best to take ones time to read through it and make sure you understand before you begin. We use a lot of scraps from my daughters stained and ripped clothes. It is a great way to reuse clothes. For the price, it is worth buying and trying.Bought for a friend who makes doll clothes and she was delighted at all the styles (and patterns!) for many types of outfits. A great buy!I haven't used any patterns yet, but I will later.FunGood ideas, and concepts. I've been teaching my granddaughter to sew and had purchased this for her. It has great ideas, but she will need help to make these projects. She is pretty good, but now she will learn a new skill-making patterns from the book first, before she begins to cut out the fabric. If I could give it 4 1/2 or 4 3/4 stars I would, but since it wasn't exactly what I had expected, I have to go 4. I don't regret ordering this book.I can sew, but it is not my favourite thing and I am by no means an "accomplished" seamstress. If you can thread you own sewing machine, you should be able to handle this.I discovered it at the library - used it several years ago. So great that I bought a copy when we got into 17" dolls. And, they really are (about) two-hours to make (depending on how often you are interrupted or how much "help" you have). We once did a playdate where the kids played while the other Mom and I each knocked an outfit out (she did two dresses and I did a shirt and pants). I think we were sewing for about 3 hours (and chatting at the same time).easy traceable patterns with simple ideas. Lovely book.this is an excellent book NO COMPLAINTS easily adaptable I can:t wait to try thease patterns on my moxie teenz cool bool way to gogood ideasI went through it rapidly, and found the selection of clothing and sizes very satisfactory, as the assembly process for different trims and decorative elements are well explained throughout. An excellent book I'd recommend.Nice to have quick to make clothes, but some don't look particularly nice when they are finished. More appropriate for a beginner.
